MFS Investment Management has disclosed the retirement of Michael Roberge from the position of CEO. The role will be succeeded by Ted Maloney, the current Chief Investment Officer at MFS.

This transition underscores the company's strategic planning and commitment to long-term leadership development. Ted Maloney, who has been with MFS since 2005 and has held various key roles, including equity analyst, portfolio manager, director of US research, global director of research, and currently chief investment officer, will now assume the role of CEO. In his new capacity, Ted will guide MFS's strategy and vision, with the full confidence and endorsement of Michael Roberge, who acknowledges Ted's exceptional investment and management skills accumulated over almost two decades of collaboration.

During this transition, Mr. Roberge will maintain his engagement with MFS clients globally and retain his position as a member of the MFS Funds board. He will collaborate closely with the MFS management committee and the board of directors at Sun Life, the parent company of MFS. In the lead-up to the scheduled transition in January 2025, Mr. Roberge will continue overseeing the firm and working closely with Ted to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities.
