By Muskan Arora

Richard Friend will step down as CIO of $43 billion Funds SA, after almost eight years in the role.

As a CIO, Friend led the investment team and was responsible for the development and implementation of investment strategy, investment implementation, and management of the Funds SA investment options.

Friend joined Funds SA in December 2016.

The team has expanded significantly under his leadership and investment capabilities have been broadened across all asset classes,” said John Piteo, Funds SA chief executive, in a recent statement.

Funds SA confirmed launching the search for an interim CIO in due course.
