The 5th Annual Midwest Institutional Real Estate Investor Forum is a local peer to peer educational meeting exclusively for the institutional and HNW wealth management community with a specific focus on allocations to real estate.
The program agenda has been developed through extensive local travel and feedback from the local markets including executive directors, chief investment officers, senior finance and investment staff, general counsels and trustees representing institutional & HNW wealth management asset owners including public and corporate pension plans, endowments, foundations, insurance portfolios, healthcare plans, investment consultants, family offices, HNW wealth managers and private banks.
In a closed door and non-salesy environment we provide a platform for peer to peer knowledge exchange for the institutional and HNW wealth management community with a specific focus on allocations to real estate. Our coverage is constantly updated to reflect the latest in core, value add, real estate debt, industrial and hospitality investments spanning building initial allocations to managing multi-billion dollar portfolios.
Michael Frerichs, Illinois State Treasurer
Michael Frerichs is the only statewide-elected Constitutional Officer from downstate Illinois. Currently, Mike is serving his second-term as Illinois State Treasurer after building a hugely successful bipartisan re-election campaign. Prior to becoming State Treasurer, Mike served seven years in the Illinois Senate representing East Central Illinois. He was the first Democratic State Senator to represent the area since 1936. Before the Illinois Senate, Mike was elected twice to the Champaign County Board and then elected as Champaign County Auditor. Mike stands 6 feet, 8 inches, making him one of the tallest elected officials in Illinois’ history, four inches taller than Abraham Lincoln. Before entering public service, Mike graduated from Yale and then spent two years in Taiwan where he taught English and learned to speak Chinese. He returned to Champaign County and launched a technology business. He also served as a volunteer firefighter. Mike was born and raised in the small, downstate farming community of Gifford, Illinois. He is the middle child of three sons. His father was a truck driver and his mother a secretary at the University of Illinois. Mike and his daughter live in Champaign.
