The 4th Annual Japan Investors Forum 2024 is an educational initiative designed through close coordination with Japan’s leading institutional and private wealth investors to build peer communities that merge global best practices with local expertise. The forum brings together investment leadership teams including investment officers, investment committee members, manager research, fund selection and their consultants representing the Japanese institutional and private wealth investment community.
The agenda is developed through extensive travel and feedback from the institutional and private wealth investor community including single-family offices, multi-family offices, superannuation funds, endowments, local asset managers, foundations, insurance companies, healthcare plans, independent wealth management firms, private banks and investment consultants.
Sessions
will be held in Japanese with simultaneous translation available.
Hirowaka Murakami, Chief Investment Officer, Yamauchi-No.10 Family Office (Single-Family Office) Founding Member and CIO of Yamauchi No.10 Family Office (“YFO”). Mr. Murakami oversees the architecture and management of the YFO’s entire asset portfolio. He is dedicated to creating value through YFO’s investments by helping forward-thinking management teams challenge conventional norms and embrace change, aiming to reignite Japan's spirit of innovation. Hirowaka focuses on multiple strategies, investing in Japanese public and private equities through both a more hostile as well as a “tough friend” approach. He also directs venture investments in global deep-tech startups that are tackling major global issues utilizing cutting-edge technology. Hirowaka started his career at Deutsche Bank Group (Japan), providing strategic support to a variety of Japanese companies navigating complex financial scenarios including turnaround and special circumstances. Subsequently, he joined Goldman Sachs (Japan), focusing on advising leading Japanese companies on diverse topics: growth strategies, intricate financial schemes, capital allocation, as well as anti-activism defense advisory. |
Tetsuya Oishi, Executive Director, Investment Department, Government Pension Investment Fund OISHI Tetsuya is Executive Director of Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF), the world’s largest pension fund. He is responsible for the portfolio management and investment analysis at Investment Department. He is also in charge of formulating and verifying the strategic asset allocation at Research and Actuary Department.
Before assuming the current roles, he led the fund’s strategy on a wide range of investment activities, such as adopting or customizing the benchmarks of listed equities and fixed incomes, restructuring the domestic and international fixed income portfolio, conducting the joint research project with the World Bank Group to study ESG integration in fixed income investment, and establishing the investment framework for private equity and infrastructure investment in collaboration with International Finance Corporation and Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, respectively.
Prior to joining GPIF in 2009, he was a fixed income portfolio manager at Nomura Asset Management, traded fixed income derivatives at Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan (LTCB), and was a general machinery industry analyst at LTCB Research Institute.
He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Tokyo in 1994 and is a CFA charterholder. |
