J. Kyle Bass, Chief Executive Officer, Conservation Equity Management

Mr. Bass is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Conservation Equity Management, LP. Bass is an avid landowner and conservationist in the state of Texas since 2003. He is also the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Hayman Capital Management since 2005. Bass is a founding member of the Committee on the Present Danger: China and serves on the board of the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation and Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation. Bass was the recipient of the 2019 Foreign Policy Association Medal for his responsible internationalism and is a current member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Before forming Hayman, Bass was a Managing Director at Legg. 

Kenneth A. Hersh, Chairman, Hersh Family Investments

Kenneth A. Hersh, is President, Chief Executive Officer, and board member of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a Dallas-based non-partisan institution which houses the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the George W. Bush Institute. Mr. Hersh focuses on executing the strategy to sustain the Bush Center’s mission of engaging communities in the U.S. and around the world by developing leaders, advancing policy, and taking action to solve today’s most pressing challenges. In addition, he oversees his family office as Chairman of Hersh Family Investments (HFI). HFI focuses on investing in growth companies across the sectors of real estate, technology, sports and entertainment, and industrial goods and services. He is the Co-Founder and former CEO of NGP Energy Capital Management.

Pia M. Orrenius, Senior Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas

Orrenius is a labor economist working on regional economic growth and demographic change. She manages the regional and microeconomics group in the Dallas Fed Research Department, is executive editor of the quarterly publication Southwest Economy and co-edited Ten Gallon Economy: Sizing up Economic Growth in Texas (2015, Palgrave MacMillan). Her academic research focuses on the labor market impacts of immigration, unauthorized immigration and U.S. immigration policy. She is coauthor of the book Beside the Golden Door: U.S. Immigration Reform in a New Era of Globalization (2010, AEI Press). Orrenius is affiliated with several academic institutions. She is research fellow at the Tower Center for Public Policy and International Affairs and the Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center at Southern Methodist University and at the IZA Institute of Labor in Bonn, Germany, as well as adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Orrenius was senior economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President, Washington D.C., in 2004–05, where she advised the Bush administration on labor, health and immigration issues. She holds a PhD in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and bachelor degrees in economics and Spanish from the University of Illinois at Urbana—Champaign.

Ian Charles, Founder & Managing Partner, Arctos Sports Partners

Ian Charles is the Founder and Managing Partner at Arctos Sports Partners. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Mr. Charles directs the Firm’s investment strategy, firm governance and investor relations.

Prior to the formation of Arctos Sports Partners, Mr. Charles served as a member of the private equity and infrastructure investment committees and Partner at Landmark Partners, a leader in the global private equity, real estate and infrastructure secondary markets. At Landmark, Mr. Charles helped design and execute the firm’s private equity strategy; helped build the firm’s quantitative research group; sourced and structured large, innovative liquidity transactions across the firm’s investment verticals; developed and presented the firm’s views on the macroenvironment and alternative asset classes at a wide range of industry conferences; and helped create the firm’s innovative preferred equity investment strategy. During his time at Landmark Partners, Mr. Charles was part of a team that sourced and oversaw transactions representing more than $10billion in transaction value.
