KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Tony Weber, Managing Partner, Chairman of Executive Committee, NGP Energy Capital Management

Mr. Weber joined NGP in 2004 and serves as Managing Partner and Chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee. He chairs the Investment Process Committee where he oversees the firm’s ongoing investment and execution efforts, as well as, plays an active role in the full range of NGP’s investment and monitoring process. Mr. Weber has deep industry relationships and experiences that are vital resources for the firm. In addition to managing the day-to-day activities of the firm, Mr. Weber also plays a key role in sourcing and managing NGP’s relationship with its investors.

Prior to NGP, Mr. Weber was the Chief Financial Officer for Merit Energy Company where he raised equity commitments from investors and oversaw all of Merit’s financial, accounting, and investment functions.

Before Merit, NGP enjoyed a strong relationship with Mr. Weber from his position as Senior Vice President and Head of Union Bank of California’s Energy Division in Dallas. During his 14 years as a commercial banker, he was involved in the financing of more than $14 billion in energy transactions, including senior debt facilities, mezzanine debt structures, project financing and direct equity investments.

Mr. Weber received a B.B.A. in Finance in 1984 from Texas A&M University, where he is a member of the Dean’s Council, a founding member of the Mays Business Fellows Program, and was recognized as an outstanding alumnus in 2013.


Mark Okada, Co-founder and Co-Chief Investment Officer, Highland Capital Management 

Mark Okada is Co-founder and Co-Chief Investment Officer of global alternative investment firm Highland Capital Management, L.P. where he oversees the investment activities across the firm’s platform. With over 30 years of experience in credit markets, Mr. Okada is regarded as an innovator in alternative credit investing; he is responsible for structuring one of the industry’s first non-bank collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and is a pioneer in the development of the bank loan market. He received a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. 


Doug Bratton, Founder, Chief Investment Officer, Crestline Investors

Mr. Bratton is Founder, CIO and majority owner of Crestline Investors, Inc., an institutional alternative investment management firm that specializes in credit and opportunistic investments, and manages a multi-PM equity market neutral hedge fund. Mr. Bratton has been President of Crestline since 1997 and is the Chair of both the Investment and Executive Committees. He has been an investment professional utilizing alternative asset strategies focused on credit strategies, private equity and venture capital since 1983, and has managed portfolios using these strategies on behalf of organizations associated with the Bass Family since 1989.


Bryan Cressey, Co-Founder, Cressey & Company, Co-Founder, GTCR

Mr. Cressey is co-founder at Cressey & Company, a private investment firm specializing on investing in and building leading healthcare businesses. Mr. Cressey began his career with First Chicago Equity Group; was one of the founders of the firm that became Golder, Thoma, Cressey, Rauner; and established Cressey & Company in 2008.He is well known for his consistently strong investment returns. He served as Chairman of a New York Stock Exchange company, Belden, and is a Director of several others. He has been inducted into the Chicago Business Hall of Fame and the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame, is a Stanley C. Golder Medal award winner from the Illinois Venture Capital Association.


Tim Barrett, Chief Investment Officer, Texas Tech University System

Mr. Tim Barrett is Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Investment Officer for Texas Tech University System (TTUS). Mr. Barrett is responsible for day-to-day management of the Endowment Assets and responsible for Investment Strategy and Implementation of the nearly $1.2 Billion endowment and $800 Million in Operating Capital. Mr. Barrett began his relationship with TTUS in April of 2013. Prior to TTUS, Mr. Barrett served as Director of Pension Investments Worldwide at Eastman Kodak, overseeing more than $16 Billion in aggregate through approximately 77 plans globally.
