WTW appointing Craig Baker chief investment strategist, Jon Pliner global CIO

By Staff

After 10 years as global chief investment officer at WTW, Craig Baker is moving into the role of chief investment strategist, according to a press release.

He'll continue to serve on the Investments Global Leadership Team and take on more external, market-facing responsibilities.

In his new role, Baker will be responsible for strategic relationships and developing key investment opportunities across the globe. He’ll continue to lead the portfolio management team for Alliance Witan — the FTSE 100 investment trust that WTW has been managing since April 2017 — and look for opportunities to expand its reach into similar opportunities.

WTW has tapped Jon Pliner to succeed Baker as global CIO, joining the Investments Global Leadership Team. Currently Pliner serves as the firm’s deputy CIO and has held the position of head of delegated portfolio management in the U.S. market since 2017. He’s also co-chair of WTW’s Private Markets Investment Committee and Real Assets Investment Committee.

Baker and Pliner will assume their new roles, effective Apr. 1.

“I want to congratulate Craig and Jon on their new roles,” said Diya Luke, WTW’s global head of Investments, in the release. “Following 10 highly successful years as our CIO, and 30 years with our investments business, Craig’s new role is strategically important in helping to further grow our business. I am also delighted to welcome Jon onto our Global Leadership Team and excited for him to start work with a range of new clients. Jon brings a breadth of experience that will greatly benefit our clients and our partners.”
