By David G. Barry

John Patterson has left his role as a vice president at Wilshire Associates to join the investment team of UPMC, a Pittsburgh-based healthcare provider and insurer, as director, investments.

He spent nine years with Wilshire, an independent investment management firm which offers consulting and analytical products for a global client base. Prior to Wilshire, Patterson was a senior investment accountant with BNY Mellon.

UPMC, which generated $24 billion in revenue in 2021, is the largest nongovernmental employer in Pennsylvania. It has more than 92,000 employees, 40 hospitals, 800 doctors’ offices and outpatients, and a more than 4-million-member insurance services division.

UPMC’s investment team is led by Director Mary Ciccone and Senior Director Fiona Yung.

Efforts to reach Ciccone were unsuccessful.
