The $40.4bn Texas Municipal Retirement System hired three
new senior staff members to its private market teams, as announced on Monday.
The CIO Yup Kim took to LinkedIn welcomed the new hires who
would support in strengthening the system’s “global partner relationships,
amplify our direct investment capabilities and take the private markets program
to new heights”.
Philip Hunter O’Brien was appointed as the managing director
and head of private equity. Previously, O’Brien has led technology and consumer
direct private investments at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.
Prior to that, he led the North American private investments
practise for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council.
Amol Deshpande was named managing director and head of
direct investments. He will serve as a member of the fund’s staff investment
committee.
Before joining TMRS, Deshpande served as managing director
at Redesign Health for four years. In the past, he has also held senior equity
analyst roles at Luminus Management and Soros Fund Management.
Isidora Stankovic was named as director of private equity. Prior
to TMRS, she served on the private equity team at London-based Searchlight
Capital Partners for two years.
Before that, she worked as a private equity associate at BC
Partners for almost two years. In the past, she has also worked as an
investment banking associate at Goldman Sachs.
Over the past one, three, five and 10 years through March
31, TMRS has returned an annualized 11.62%, 6.05%, 7.19% and 6.38%,
respectively.
