Pat Tomlinson Appointed President of Mercer by Marsh McLennan

Marsh McLennan has announced the appointment of Pat Tomlinson as President of Mercer, the global business under Marsh McLennan focused on transforming the landscape of work, shaping retirement and investment results, and fostering genuine health and well-being. Meanwhile, Martine Ferland will continue to serve as Mercer CEO and Vice Chair of Marsh McLennan, overseeing Mercer's regional leaders until her retirement on March 31, 2024.

Mr. Tomlinson will directly report to Ms. Ferland, overseeing Mercer's global Health, Wealth, and Career practices. While maintaining his current roles as Marsh McLennan US and Canada CEO and Mercer US and Canada President for the immediate future, Mr. Tomlinson will assume the position of President and CEO of Mercer, as well as Vice Chair of Marsh McLennan after Ms. Ferland's retirement. In this capacity, he will become a member of Marsh McLennan’s Executive Committee, reporting to John Doyle, Marsh McLennan President and CEO.

Pat Tomlinson joined Mercer in 2014, initially assuming the role of US and Canada Career business leader. Between 2018 and 2020, he held the position of US East Market leader, overseeing Mercer's Health, Wealth, and Career businesses and adapting them to evolving client requirements. Before his tenure at Mercer, he dedicated 17 years to Aon. Additionally, Mr. Tomlinson served as a US Army officer, having graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
