Penn State ‘Interviewing’ for Next Deputy CIO

By Chris Glynn

Penn State University is “in the process of interviewing” for its office of investment management, including its soon-to-be vacated deputy chief investment officer position.

The $4.5 billion college endowment confirmed Sonali Dalal was leaving to be CIO of the $900 million University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn., said Wyatt DuBois, assistant director, university of public relations for PSU. DuBois said the endowment is interviewing candidates with unique experience across each asset class. He declined to elaborate on who PSU was interviewing.

Dalal will exit Penn State in August. She joined PSU in 2002 as senior investment analyst. Dalal has also been chief investment strategist for the college endowment from 2016 to 2018.

Dalal is an alum of Penn State, where she received her MBA in finance. She is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA). Dalal began her Wall Street career with Export Import Bank of India in 1996.
