Cara Williams is the Global Head of
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing and Sustainability at the consulting firm Mercer, which gives her a
unique perspective of how different regions of the world are applying ESG and
Sustainability strategies to their investment process, and what themes they are
currently finding important. Over
the course of this interview with Christine Giordano, editor-in-chief at
Markets Group, Williams discusses the differences between ESG and Sustainable
investing, and to what themes the different regions of the world are placing
their emphasis.
Williams began at Mercer’s investment consulting business
as Global Chief Operating Officer in April 2005. She started her career in
finance as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch in New York. Before she
worked in the investment industry, she was responsible for budgets and
logistics for U.S. Army and NATO MWR deployments.
