Susan Ridlen to retire after 34 years.
Susan Ridlen announced her retirement on Wednesday from Eli Lilly and Company, where she spent 34 years working, with more than 20 as a Chief Investment Officer. She will be retiring this week.
Ridlen is vice president and assistant treasurer at the firm. Prior to becoming its CIO, she served as the chief financial officer and executive director of finance, manufacturing and quality for the company. Known for her strong returns in hedge funds, and as an advocate for active investments, Ridlen’s long termism approach has gained her much respect throughout the industry.
Before joining Eli Lilly, she was a Senior Auditor manager at McGladrey & Pullen, and a Senior Auditor at Arthur Andersen. She holds an MBA in Finance from Gies College of Business, University of Illinois, as well as a BS in accounting from the same institution.
In her announcement, she said:
“It has been a privilege to serve in this role, work alongside so many talented colleagues and partners, and contribute to the success of the company’s benefit plan management and growth for our thousands of participants and retirees and in alignment with shareholder interests and value.
While this marks the close of one chapter, it is also the exciting beginning of the next. I plan to remain very engaged in the investment world through a select number of advisory, board, and fiduciary roles. I look forward to applying my experience in new ways, collaborating with innovative organizations, and continuing to contribute to the future of the industry.
I’m excited for what lies ahead and welcome the opportunity to connect around the next challenge.”
More to come on this development.
