After 21 years, the $8.7bn John D. and Catherine T.
MacArthur Foundation has launched its search for CIO and vice president,
following the retirement announcement of Susan Manske.
Heudrick & Struggles is assisting with the search of a
CIO with over fifteen years of experience in investing.
In a recent statement, Manske announced that she will be retiring in June. She has been the head of the investment office since 2003.

“For more than two decades, MacArthur has had the good fortune of Sue Manske managing our endowment,” said John Palfrey, president of the MacArthur Foundation, in a statement.
“This is a very hard, unforgiving, results-oriented role. We
all depend on the work of the investment office and have leaned on Sue and her
trailblazing leadership for a wonderfully long time. During that period, she
and her colleagues have put up stellar numbers, consistently and without
exception,” added Palfrey.
Prior to joining the foundation, Manske served as the VP and
CIO at Boring Co., for two years where she was leading the investment
management of the company’s retirement plan assets.
She has also spent 13 years with Ameritech Corp., where she
started in 1987 as a fixed income manager eventually ascending to the role of
CIO in 1998
