Managing Partner, Head of Southeast Asia

Thomas is Managing Partner and Head of Southeast Asia at CDH Investments, a leading private capital management platform in Asia. Based in Singapore, Dr. Lanyi and his team pursue structured investment opportunities across all major markets in Southeast Asia, covering a broad range of sectors, transaction types and stages. Dr. Lanyi also co-leads CDH’s global China cross-border practice. Dr. Lanyi has worked in Private Equity in Asia since the late 1990s. Prior to joining CDH in 2012, he held senior management roles at Mekong Capital in Vietnam and Templeton Private Equity in Singapore. Dr. Lanyi earned a Doctorate with distinction in Capital Markets Theory & Econometrics from the Vienna University of Economics and obtained a CEMS Masters degree in International Management from HEC Paris. He has been actively involved with developing the regional alternative assets management industry and community, chairing the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SVCA) between 2017 and 2021. Dr. Lanyi makes an impact by serving on a number of corporate and charitable boards in Vietnam and acts as an advisor to the Vietnam Private Capital Association (VPCA).

Peng is Head of Overseas Investment Department of China Merchants Capital, a leading alternative asset manager in China with a total AUM of approximately 43B USD.  He has held positions including Executive Director at China Merchants Capital, Deputy General Manager of the Capital Investment Department at China Merchants Investment Development Co., Ltd., and Senior Manager of the Investment and Development Department at China Merchants Ports Group. He has over a decade of investment experience in infrastructure investments, private equity, cross-boarder M&As, and capital market financing. He has been involved in investment projects across Mainland China, Hong Kong, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia, with total investments exceeding USD 4 billion. He holds a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University, and a Phd's degree from City University of Hong Kong.

Philip is a Founding Member and Managing Director of Primavera Capital. He sits on the Leadership Committee, Investment Committees, Strategic Partnerships Committee, Portfolio Management Committee, ESG Committee, Operations Committee, among others. His board experience has been across for-profit and non-profit sectors.

Prior to Primavera, he held positions in investment banking based in Hong Kong and in a hedge fund based in San Francisco.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.

Globally, Primavera Capital manages USD20 billion in AUM with 100+ portfolio companies and 100+ professionals across PE, VC, and Credit strategies.

Amit is a Managing Director and heads AlpInvest’s co-investment effort in the Asia Pacific region, where he focuses on equity transactions in Asia and Australia. Amit rejoined AlpInvest in 2018 after about 3 years at Neuberger Berman in Asia. Prior to NB, Amit worked at AlpInvest for 8 years in our Hong Kong based co-investment team between 2008-2016. Before that, he was with JP Morgan IBD based in New York. He started his working career in 2000 as a supply chain management consultant in the US at i2 Technologies and LogicTools respectively. Amit received a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master Science from Northwestern University and an MBA with a major in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brian is a Partner and Head of Pantheon’s Asia and Emerging Markets Investment teams, and is a member of Pantheon’s International Investment Committee. Prior to joining Pantheon, Brian was a Portfolio Director at CDC Group where he helped build their Asia and Emerging Markets portfolio, and before that he worked at Watson Wyatt. Brian is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, and holds an MBA from the London Business School, and a BSc in Actuarial Science from City University of London. Brian is a member of the GPCA Board of Directors and the Chair of its Asia Council.
Ewan Davis

Partner and Head of South-East Asia

Ewan Davis is a Partner at Quadria Capital and leads the firm's investment efforts across Southeast Asia. With more than 19 years of experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets, he is responsible for originating and executing investments, driving value creation, and leading portfolio strategy and successful exits across the region. Ewan has played a central role in several of Quadria's flagship healthcare investments in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia. He currently serves the boards of a number of the region's leading healthcare businesses, including Con Cung, Tam Tri, Straits Orthopaedics, and Hermina, partnering closely with management teams to accelerate growth, enhance operational excellence, and improve access to quality healthcare. Ewan holds a Master's degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, UK.

Hemal Mirani leads the firm’s efforts in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. As Head of APAC, she is the lead executive responsible for our business in the region. Hemal also works closely with the firm’s regional leaders in the Americas and Europe and the Middle East (EMEA). Together, they ensure global alignment on key initiatives and the continued delivery of excellence across our business around the globe. Hemal first joined HarbourVest in 1997 and spent 11 years developing relationships with leading Asian private equity managers. She also worked with our investors and consultants across the region to advance and optimize their private market investment programs. She then spent six years with CVC Capital Partners in Hong Kong, where she was head of investor relations in Asia and Chief Administrative Officer. She rejoined HarbourVest’s senior management team in Asia in 2015 to focus on investments and investor relations across the Asia Pacific region. Hemal received a BA in Commerce from Sydenham College (Bombay) in 1989, an MA in International Studies with a Japanese language concentration from the Joseph H. Lauder Institute, and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School in 1997. The latter two were part of a joint degree program at the University of Pennsylvania. Hemal speaks fluent Japanese.

Louis d’Estienne d’Orves joined Tikehau Capital in 2018 and currently serves as Head of Asia-Pacific. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of IREIT Global, the first Singapore-listed Real Estate Investment Trust with a Europe-focused mandate, and a subsidiary of Tikehau Capital and City Developments Limited. He has over 17 years of experience in European real estate investments. His responsibilities included sourcing and executing deals across Europe across all asset classes, securing external debt financing and raising capital for co-investment opportunities and funds. Louis started his career at AXA IM Alts (previously known as AXA Real Estate Investment Manager) in 2008 in London as an analyst. He then assumed various roles in Paris and Cologne across the Investment and Corporate Finance teams, before co-heading their European Transaction Special Situations team in London in 2017. Michael Wang is Deputy General Counsel of TPG Capital Asia, covering TPG’s investment activities in North Asia and Oceania.  Before joining TPG, he led the legal team for Hony Capital’s equity investments as a Legal Director; and before that he practiced law at several international law firms.  Michael received his Bachelor of Laws degree from Peking University and Master of Laws degree from Northwestern University.  He is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and is permitted to practice law in the New York State.  Michael speaks English, Chinese, Japanese and some Korean.

Richard Blair is a Senior Managing Director and the firm’s Deputy Chief Legal Officer, International. He sits on a number of firm boards including for The Blackstone Group (HK) Limited and Blackstone Singapore Pte. Ltd. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Blair was a partner at the law firm of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and practiced in both EMEA and APAC. Mr. Blair has a Bachelor of Laws with European Legal Studies from King’s College London and a Diploma in European Legal Studies from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg.
Srini Nagarajan

Srini joined British International Investment in 2013 to lead the Asia team under the organisation’s new investment strategy. He has the distinction of having been our first overseas employee and recently moved to Singapore to lead BIIs expansion into the Indo-Pacific region. He has been instrumental in building a high-quality portfolio in the region, which focuses across products and sectors. Under his leadership, BII has a strong presence on the ground and the team has made successful investments in the financial services, healthcare, logistics and renewable energy sectors – including the creation of BII subsidiary Ayana Renewable Power in India, a pioneer renewable energy developer. His role includes support in origination, execution, and management of the portfolio for delivering development goals and value. In addition, he is building BIIs presence in the Southeast Asian markets with a focus on Climate change. Srini started his career with Standard Chartered Bank both in India and Southern Africa, before joining British International Investment in 1996. He has managed leasing companies in Africa; in India he managed legacy assets for value before moving into mainstream private equity investing for both British International Investment and Actis. He has a Master’s degree in Economics and a post-graduate qualification in Business Administration from Warwick School of Business.
