The $230B AustralianSuper has tapped Eneasz Kądziela, former deputy chief investment officer and head of private equity of the $288.59B Office of the New York City Comptroller, as senior portfolio manager on its U.S. private equity team.

In his new role, Kądziela will oversee the deepening of the fund’s relationships with existing investment partners, alongside scouting new relationships. He will report to Aaron Witte, senior portfolio manager of private equity.

“We are excited to welcome Eneasz to our growing New York team as we continue to expand our private equity portfolio,” said Terry Charalambous, AustralianSuper’s global head of private equity, in a statement. “Eneasz brings vast knowledge of the U.S. private equity market and important long-standing relationships with investment professionals at leading platforms. This highly strategic appointment will deepen our network across the North American market, ensuring we continue to have access to the best investment opportunities for members.”

AustralianSuper invests more than $75B in North America and has been working toward a plan to double its U.S. team to 120 by next year to take advantage of private market opportunities in the region.

In October, the pension plan announced four new senior appointments to its NYC office, along with relocating two from Australia, with some exclusively focused on alternative asset classes.

Kądziela, stepped down from NYCRS in June, according to an announcement made by comptroller Brad Lander. He joined NYCRS in 2015 as private equity investment officer. In 2021, he was promoted to head of private equity, later transitioning to be the deputy CIO and head of PE in 2022.
