DWS Group will have a management team adjustment, with the introduction of Rafael Otero as the new COO, commencing from January 1, 2024. Reporting directly to Chief Financial Officer Markus Kobler, Otero's appointment prompts Kobler to temporarily shoulder board responsibility for the Chief Operating Office.
Rafael Otero is set to take over the role following Angela Maragkopoulou's departure for a new venture. Angela, known for her extensive expertise in shaping future IT strategies involving cloud technology, data management, and AI, joined DWS in January 2023, transitioning from Deutsche Telekom IT GmbH, where she served as Chief Information Officer B2B and Senior Vice President B2B and Data Analytics.
Rafael Otero, slated to become the new COO in January 2024, joins DWS from Deutsche Bank, where he most recently held the positions of Chief Information Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer for the Corporate Bank. In this role, he spearheaded the agile transformation of the division, aligning product, operations, and technology. Before Deutsche Bank, Rafael was a co-founder of several successful companies, including Payleven, a mobile payment company. In the early stages of his career, he worked in technology roles for various large global organizations. To allow the COO function to concentrate fully on the ongoing IT transformation, CFO Markus Kobler will temporarily assume board responsibility for the Chief Operating Office.
