NYC’s deputy CIO, head of private equity departs

The deputy is leaving after almost a decade at the plan to explore a new investment management opportunity

Eneasz Kądziela, deputy chief investment officer and head of private equity at the $279.1B  Office of the New York City Comptroller is departing to pursue a new investment management opportunity, according to a press release on Monday.

Kądziela joined the comptroller’s office in 2015 as a private equity investment officer and was promoted to the role of senior investment officer in 2017. In 2021, he was appointed head of private equity and later added the deputy CIO role to his responsibilities in 2022.

Prior to joining the comptroller’s office, he worked as director of research and fund relations at Small Business Investor Alliance for more than two years.

“Over the past 10 years, Kądziela has played an extraordinary role in building our private equity platform, helping drive strong asset class performance, and building and strengthening our global relationships with our investment partners,” said Steven Meier, the comptroller office’s chief investment officer, in the release. “Kądziela has been an invaluable colleague, mentor, and partner to many across our organization. His professionalism, integrity, collaborative spirit, and deep commitment to our mission have left an indelible mark on our investment organization and, importantly, on the strong positioning of the city’s five retirement systems’ portfolios.”

The comptroller’s office spearheads five pension plans of New York City, including the Teacher’s Retirement System of the City of New York, the New York City Employees’ Retirement System, the New York City Police Pension Fund, the New York City Fire Pension Fund and the New York City Board of Education Retirement System.
