Builders Vision, the family office of Walmart billionaire Lukas Walton, has promoted Noelle Laing to chief investment officer.
Walton, who serves as chief executive officer, founded the Chicago-based philanthropy and impact investment organization to help enact change with respect to “societal and environmental challenges.”
According to a press release, Laing, who was previously the CIO of Walton’s Builders Initiative, will take over the new position and consolidate Builders Vision’s investment strategies into one practice with a combined team of nearly 30 investors.
In her new role, Laing will continue overseeing the foundation’s endowment portfolios and guiding Builders Vision’s investment efforts. Additionally, under the consolidated investment team, she will lead the organization’s global, multi-billion-dollar asset management portfolio, which invests across public and private markets through third-party fund managers and co-investments.
Laing has worked with Walton’s investment portfolio for more than 12 years. In her role as CIO of Builders Initiative, Laing managed the $1.7B Builders Initiative Foundation endowment, successfully transitioning 90% of the portfolio to mission-aligned investments in 2022. She also led a team of investors allocating over $300M toward supporting impact-driven entrepreneurs, companies, and fund managers, with a particular emphasis on transformational opportunities in oceans, food and agriculture, and energy.
“[Laing] has been instrumental in the success of our investment strategies and is the perfect person for the job,” said Walton, in a press release. “With her depth of experience, [Laing] will unite our talented investors under one team and together they will inspire further co-investment and help catalyze markets. Through increased coordination and shared vision, we can be even more effective at pursuing these goals across our sectors.”
