Malaysia’s $302B (MR1.31T) Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has appointed Mohamad Hafiz Kassim as its new chief investment officer, succeeding Rohaya Mohammad Yusof, effective Dec. 1, 2025.
According to a news release, Yusof had overseen the EPF’s investment division for the past five years and has worked with the fund for the past 17 years.
Kassim joined the EPF in 2008 and has held senior leadership roles across its private equity, private markets, capital markets, and real estate portfolios. Most recently, he was the EPF’s chief financial officer. He also served as managing director of Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd for nearly a year.
“[Kassim] brings a wealth of experience, steady leadership, and a strong understanding of the EPF’s long-term investment philosophy,” said Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn, the fund’s chief executive officer, in the release. “His background in both investment and finance makes him the ideal individual to lead this critical portfolio. We are confident that under his stewardship, the EPF will continue delivering resilient and sustainable returns for our members.”
In addition to Kassim’s appointment, the EPF also named Ahmad Rizal Omar chief financial officer, effective Dec. 1, 2025.
The fund’s CEO said Omar’s “proven leadership and financial acumen” would further strengthen the institution’s financial management and governance. Omar was previously the head of EPF’s finance department.
Before joining the EPF, he served as CFO at PLUS Malaysia Bhd and held senior positions at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, and Axiata Group Bhd.
