Key Discussion Topics

2020 MACRO OUTLOOK AND GLOBAL ASSET ALLOCATION

The biggest uncertainty seems to be in political factors, such as the extent of policy shifts under the current administration and the looming 2020 election cycle, the direction of interest rates, as well as more referendums and elections in the Euro zone. How do our panelists accounts for these and other factors that could affect their global asset allocation decisions?

GLOBAL FIXED INCOME: RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES

While economic activity has rebounded since the lows of mid-2016, we have yet to escape the modest-global-growth envelope in which the financial markets have been operating since the end of the financial crisis. This panel will discuss the key risks and opportunities for institutional asset owners within global fixed-income markets in this environment.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR GLOBAL EQUITY MARKETS

2019 was a strong year for many equity investors, however a peek under the hood reveals a narrow market and the likelihood of future volatility. This session will discuss the opportunities and risks for global equity investors amid this evolving backdrop.

AN EVOLVING WORLD FOR ALTERNATIVE CREDIT

Following the global financial crisis, a low-rate environment has forced investors to rethink asset allocation in order to meet their portfolio objectives. The panelists will seek to define the various segments within alternative credit, to highlight several key characteristics of these strategies, and to discuss real-time examples of opportunities in today’s market.

PASSIVE VS. ACTIVE MANAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

In the past year we have seen passive fund assets overtake active for the first time in history. With the quality being a key component of a successful operation, panelists will discuss the areas of opportunity as it relates to passive management vs. active management.

ESG NOW AND THEN: RECENT TRENDS IN IMPLEMENTATION

The ESG discussion is evolving rapidly, as are techniques for incorporating ESG analytics and factors into the portfolio construction process. This panel will explore how investors are assessing ESG’s longer-term material impacts and how they are positioning their portfolios to avoid these potential risks.

EMERGING MARKETS: RELEVANCY AND VALUE IN TODAY'S MARKETS?

Attractive relative valuations, manageable debt levels and solid earnings growth with high profitability should continue to fuel emerging market stocks, which also exhibit about half their past volatility. The opportunity set and challenges seem to be ever-changing, however.

DIVERSIFY THE DIVERSIFIER: BUILDING AN ALL SEASON REAL ASSETS PORTFOLIO

In the face of volatile equity markets and inadequate bond yields, the investment management industry is seeing investor interest in real assets spike. In this session, we build a broader income-oriented real assets allocation designed to deliver high yield with downside protection.

CONVERSATION WITH THE REGION'S LEADING CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICERS

Chief Investment Officers constantly face unique sets of challenges and investing environments. Panelists will focus on key investment and management issues.
