KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Steven Meier, CFA, Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management, New York City Retirement Systems

As Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management, Steven Meier, oversees the five pension systems that compose the New York City retirement systems.

Mr. Meier brings over 40 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, previously serving as Assistant Treasurer and Interim Chief Investment Officer for the Connecticut Office of the State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden, overseeing the investments of Connecticut’s $40 billion public pension system and its ESG initiatives. Before joining the Connecticut state treasurer’s office, Meier spent more than a decade at State Street Global Advisors, where he rose to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Global Fixed Income, Currency, and Cash Management, overseeing over $900 billion in assets.

Prior to his time at State Street, he worked at Credit Suisse as Director, Global Head of Fixed Income & Money Market Electronic Trading and Senior Trader in the Global Financing Group at Credit Suisse. His experience also includes roles at Oppenheimer Capital, Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, and Irving Trust Company.

Meier is a CFA Charter Holder and certified Financial Risk Manager. He holds an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business and a BBA from Hofstra University’s Zarb School of Business.

Simon Bachleda, Founder and Managing Partner, Revelstoke Capital Partners

Simon Bachleda is a Founder and Managing Partner at Revelstoke Capital Partners, a Denver-based private equity firm focused on building industry-leading companies in the healthcare and related health and wellness sectors. Simon is responsible for firm management, fundraising, investment professional development, and execution and leadership of Revelstoke’s investment and value creation processes. Prior to Revelstoke, Simon served as a Managing Director at Eos Partners and as an investment professional at KRG Capital Partners. He began his career as an investment banker in the mergers and acquisitions group of Credit Suisse First Boston. Simon is on the advisory board of the Burridge Center for Finance at the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a Board Member of the United States Ski and Snowboard Foundation. Simon received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and B.S. from the University of Colorado at Boulder. 

David Schnadig, Co-President, Cortec Group

David Schnadig the Co-President of Cortec Group, where he leads all operating aspects of the firm. He serves (or has served) as the Chair of the Boards of many of Cortec’s portfolio companies, including YETI, Groundworks, Little Sleepies, Weiman Products, Barcodes and Enthusiast Auto Holdings. Mr. Schnadig has worked at Cortec Group since 1995 in roles of steadily increasing responsibility. Prior to Cortec Group he was Assistant to the Chairman of SunAmerica Inc., where he co-led merger and acquisition activities, and built and managed a $350 million alternative asset investment portfolio. Prior to SunAmerica, David spent four years at Lehman Brothers in mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Mr. Schnadig graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Honors in Economics from Trinity College and received a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Eric Rahe, Managing Director and Co-President, JC Flowers

Mr. Rahe is a Managing Director and Co-President at JCF. He has led JCF’s investments in AmeriLife, Ariel Re, ELMC, Insigneo, TRICOR and Vericity.

Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Mr. Rahe was a Managing Director at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. Previously, he was a senior investment professional at the hedge fund SAB Capital, and before that a Partner at Capital Z Partners, a financial services focused private equity firm. Mr. Rahe began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

He received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. 

Brad Bernstein, Managing Partner, FTV Capital

Brad is managing partner and has been a growth equity investor at FTV Capital for over 20 years, leading investments in enterprise technology & services and financial services. Brad has over 25 years of private equity experience. Prior to FTV, Brad was a partner at Oak Hill Capital Management and its predecessors where he managed the business and financial services group. He began his private equity career with Patricof & Company Ventures and started his professional career in the investment banking division of Merrill Lynch in New York.

Reynir Indahl, Founder & Managing Partner, Summa Equity

Reynir Indahl is the Managing Partner of Summa Equity, a Nordic private equity fund he founded in 2016, with close to EUR 5bn assets under management.

Summa Equity was the first sustainability aligned private equity firm in Europe and its Fund III (2022) of EUR 2.3bn is the leading Article 9 impact buyout fund in Europe. Summa Equity’s investment focus is Resource Efficiency, Changing Demographics and Tech-Enabled Transformation.

Previously, Reynir was Partner with Altor Equity Partners where he joined at inception in 2003. Before this, he was CEO of Ignis Photonyx, Investment Director with Kistefos Venture Capital, and Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company. Reynir graduated Baker Scholar from the MBA Program at Harvard Business School; has a B.S. in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania; and he is a Second Lieutenant from the Norwegian Defence School of Intelligence and Security.
