ALTSTX is developed and led by the CAIA Association and it’s a hot spot for those seeking the very latest in alternative investment news and developments. ALTSTX is specifically designed to provide relevant, educationally focused content for individuals who manage, advise, allocate to, or oversee alternative investments. With leading allocating and management firms, the agenda will include topics such as global asset allocation, risk management, private markets, real assets, alternative beta strategies, private equity, hedge funds, ESG, crypto and more.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

J Kyle Bass, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Conservation Equity Management; Founder & Chief Investment Officer, Hayman Capital Management

Mr. Bass is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Conservation Equity Management, LP. He is also the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Hayman Capital Management since 2005. Bass is a founding member of the Committee on the Present Danger: China, recipient of the 2019 Foreign Policy Association Medal for his responsible internationalism and a current member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Before forming Hayman, Bass was a Managing Director at Legg Mason and a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in finance.


Mark Okada, Co-Founder, Sycamore Tree Capital Partners

Mr. Okada is one of the loan industry’s most experienced and recognized investors and innovators, with over 30 years’ experience developing markets and products for investors around the world. He is a regular commentator on CNBC. Previously, he was Co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Highland Capital Management, a pioneering, multibillion dollar alternative investment firm specializing in credit. He oversaw institutional and retail investment activities, including CLOs, SMAs, private equity, listed funds and ETFs. Okada is devoted to philanthropic and civic causes with a focus on education, health, faith-based service, and Japanese-American relations. He serves as board chairman for Education Is Freedom and the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society. He is a trustee at the Japanese American National Museum, a board governor at The Dallas Foundation, a board member of the U.S.-Japan Council, and a member of the Education Reform Advisory Council at the George W. Bush Institute.


Ken Hersh, Chairman, Hersh Family Investments; Founder NGP Energy Capital Management; also currently serves as CEO & President of George W. Bush Presidential Center

Since 2016, Mr. Hersh has served as President and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a non-partisan institution which houses the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the George W. Bush Institute. In 1988, he co-founded NGP Energy Capital Management, one of the largest natural resources private equity firms in the world with over $20 billion of total committed capital. Until 2016, he served as CEO of the firm. From 1988 through 2015, under his leadership, NGP invested over $12 billion and achieved returns making it one of the nation’s leading private equity firms.
