Adena Friedman

Chair and Chief Executive Officer

Adena Friedman has been the Chief Executive Officer of Nasdaq since Jan. 1, 2017, and was appointed Chair of the Board of Directors on Jan. 1, 2023. She brings more than 20 years of industry leadership and expertise and is credited with significantly shaping Nasdaq’s transformation into a leading global exchange and technology company serving the financial industry.

Prior to her current role as Chair and CEO, Adena held several senior leadership roles at Nasdaq, including President and COO, where she was responsible for the operations of the company’s business segments with a focus on driving efficiency, product development, growth and expansion. She rejoined Nasdaq in 2014 after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group from March 2011 to June 2014 and playing a critical role in taking the company public in May 2012.

Before Carlyle, Adena was a key member of Nasdaq’s management team for over a decade, serving in a variety of roles, including head of the company’s data products business, head of corporate strategy and Chief Financial Officer. She played an instrumental role in Nasdaq’s acquisition strategy, overseeing the acquisitions of INET, OMX, and the Philadelphia and Boston Exchanges. She originally joined Nasdaq in 1993 as an intern.

Since December 2018, Adena has served as a Class B director for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In January 2024, Adena was elected to the Business Roundtable (BRT) Board of Directors and currently serves as the Chair of the BRT’s Technology Committee. Since January 2020, Adena was elected to the Board of Directors of FCLTGlobal, a non-profit organization that researches tools to encourage long-term investing. In July 2020, Adena began her term as a member of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Williams College in Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.

Mikaël is Head of Americas at AustralianSuper, working out of the Fund’s New York office. He started at the Fund in January 2020 in the London office to build and lead the European Private Credit investment activities and transferred to the US in 2024. Prior to joining AustralianSuper, Mikaël held several senior roles in structured finance and real estate lending at Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley, and Aeriance Investments in London and Paris, having started his career at Société Générale in New York. Sinead Colton Grant is Chief Investment Officer of BNY Wealth. Prior to this role, she led the Investor Solutions institutional franchise which develops customized investment portfolios across public and private markets. Sinead joined BNY Wealth in 2020 as Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Head of Equities, with responsibility for the Large Cap Equity investment group, the Equity Trading team and the Capital Markets Group. She chaired the Equity Strategy Committee and was Vice Chair of the Investment Policy Committee. Previously, she was Head of Global Investment and Product Strategy for Mellon, BNY Investment’s North American investment firm, and served on the Senior Leadership team, the Investment Risk Committee, and the Environmental, Social & Governance Investing Committee. Prior to her role at BNY, Sinead served as Managing Director of Investment Strategy for the Multi-Asset Client Solutions group at BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors in London, where she designed tailored investment solutions for institutional and wealth management clients in the UK and Europe. Earlier in her career, Sinead held portfolio management roles at JP Morgan Investment Management, and was a founding partner and Head of Portfolio Management at Lee Overlay Partners, a macro investment boutique. Sinead earned an MSc in Finance from London Business School and a BBS in Finance from Dublin City University in Ireland. She has been recognized over multiple years by Irish America magazine as one of the Wall Street 50, which celebrates the contributions of Irish American and Irish born leaders in the financial industry.

Stephen Gilmore serves as CalPERS chief investment officer and assumed the role in July 2024. He leads the CalPERS Investment Office and is responsible for Total Fund investment strategies and business management. As chief investment officer, Gilmore oversees a team of more than 300 professionals and a portfolio valued at over $500 billion. Stephen has earned global recognition as an investment leader during his 40-year career working in public and private financial institutions. Before joining CalPERS, he served for more than five years as chief investment officer of the government owned New Zealand Superannuation Fund, a sovereign wealth fund. The New Zealand fund was valued at $75 billion (NZD) when he left in mid-2024, nearly doubling in size under his watch. It achieved annual investment returns of more than 12% from 2013 to 2022 and was named the best performing sovereign investor globally over the preceding 10 years in 2023. He was also chief investment strategist of the Future Fund, Australia’s sovereign wealth fund and oversaw portfolio strategy, portfolio overlays, investment risk and investment data and analytics. While in the private sector, Stephen held international positions with AIG Financial Products and Morgan Stanley. He held positions as an economist and a resident representative in Tajikistan with the International Monetary Fund and at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as a research officer. Stephen attended the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand and earned a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Commerce in economics. He is a chartered accountant and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors .

Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management

As Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management, Steven Meier, oversees the five pension systems that compose the New York City retirement systems.

Mr. Meier brings over 40 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, previously serving as Assistant Treasurer and Interim Chief Investment Officer for the Connecticut Office of the State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden, overseeing the investments of Connecticut’s $40 billion public pension system and its ESG initiatives. Before joining the Connecticut state treasurer’s office, Meier spent more than a decade at State Street Global Advisors, where he rose to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Global Fixed Income, Currency, and Cash Management, overseeing over $900 billion in assets.

Prior to his time at State Street, he worked at Credit Suisse as Director, Global Head of Fixed Income & Money Market Electronic Trading and Senior Trader in the Global Financing Group at Credit Suisse. His experience also includes roles at Oppenheimer Capital, Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, and Irving Trust Company.

Meier is a CFA Charter Holder and certified Financial Risk Manager. He holds an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business and a BBA from Hofstra University’s Zarb School of Business.

Allen Cheng is the Co-Head of the Global Head Fund Investment team and Co-PM of two U.S. hedge fund OCIO multi-manager portfolios. He and brings 20 years of alternative investment research and portfolio management experience.  He manages a research team across a wide spectrum of alternative investment strategies that includes Global Macro, Event Driven, Relative Value, Hedge Equities, Multi-Strategy and Private Credit. The team sources, reviews and approves investment managers for both Advisory and OCIO portfolios. Anne B. Walsh is a Managing Partner of Guggenheim Partners and the Chief Investment Officer of Guggenheim Partners Investment Management. Walsh provides the vision guiding the Firm’s investment strategies and leads the investment process to include the macroeconomic outlook, portfolio design, sector allocation, and risk management. She also chairs the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Oversight Committee and the Alternatives Investment Committee. Walsh, whose career in financial services spans nearly four decades, joined Guggenheim Investments in 2007. She is highly regarded for her active fixed-income, alternatives, and insurance portfolio management expertise in addition to deep background in credit and liability managed investment. In January 2024 she joined the Investor Advisory Committee on Financial Markets (IACFM), an advisory body to the President of the New York Fed. Walsh’s professional accomplishments include five consecutive years (2020–2024) as one of Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance, CIO of the Year at the 2022 Women in Asset Management Awards, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at Market Media Group’s 2022 Women in Finance Awards. Deborah Querub is the Head of Digital Assets for Citi Wealth under the Office of the CIO. In this role, Deborah spearheads Wealth’s efforts to research and develop products and services to address increasing client demand for exposure to digital assets. Deborah is also the principal point of contact for all key stakeholders including clients and external partners as they explore and navigate this rapidly emerging space. Deborah joined Citi in 2019 to lead Electronic Foreign Exchange sales for Investors in North America. Eric D. Eric graduated Penn State University with a BS in Economics with a focus in Finance. He specializes in portfolio management, investment analysis, and personal financial planning. He also works with clients on insurance planning, tax planning, and personal income tax preparation. In addition to the already mentioned certifications, Eric holds the NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) Series 65 license and the NJ Life and Health Insurance license.

Prior to joining Traphagen, Eric worked as a wealth manager specializing in comprehensive financial planning and portfolio management for high net worth individuals at Brinton Eaton Wealth Advisors (now Mariner). Previously, Eric was a financial advisor and investment analyst at BLS Advisors, LLC, where he worked on elder care estate planning, retirement planning, annuity analysis, and retiree portfolio management.

Ming joined USSA in March 2023 as Head of Markets, Asset Classes, and Portfolio Strategy (MAPS) Americas, where she leads the team’s research and development of quantitative alpha investment strategies, asset allocation frameworks, market insights and thematic investment approaches.

Prior to joining USSA, Ming served as a senior consultant to PIF for two years, advising on asset allocation and quantitative alpha investment strategies.

Before her role at PIF, Ming was Head of Investment Strategies at Vassalou Capital Management (VCM), a systematic global macro hedge fund. In this capacity, she oversaw the research and production of all investment strategies.

Earlier, Ming was a founding member, Managing Director at Parella Weinberg Partners’  Global Macro Fund, where she led the research and production in quantitative global macro trading and dynamic asset allocation strategies.

In 2012, Ming joined McKinsey Investment Office (MIO Partners), working as a Senior Researcher, where she focused on developing quantitative global macro trading and dynamic asset allocation strategies.

Ming started her hedge fund career in 2008 at SAC Capital as a quantitative research analyst, deriving quantitative global macro trading strategies.

Ming’s career began as a Research Analyst at Bloomberg, where she contributed to cross-asset class research.

Rich is Executive Director, Investments and Global Chief Investment Strategist for Mercer. He works with some of Mercer’s largest, most sophisticated clients, and is accountable for Mercer’s “innovation agenda,” including the creation and development of thought leadership and related products and services across the firm. Over the last 30+ years, Rich has provided investment advice to clients in more than 20 countries, including many of the world’s largest institutional investors. He has also led social security and other long term savings reform projects in five countries and one US state. Rich has led Mercer’s work in several projects with the World Economic Forum, including work related to transformational investment, and to the longevity economy. Rich was President of Mercer’s Investments & Retirement business and a member of Mercer’s Executive Leadership team from 2017 to 2022. Prior to that, he led Mercer’s investment management business globally and served in various other leadership capacities while based in Tokyo, Singapore and New York, including serving as global Chief Investment Officer for Mercer’s investment management business. Rich holds an MBA (with high honors) in analytic finance and accounting from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree (with honors) in mathematical sciences and mathematical economic analysis from Rice University in Houston, Texas. Rich also did graduate work in international economics at Tokyo University. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. Rob Sharps is the chief executive officer and president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. He is chair of the Board of Directors and of the company’s Executive, Management, and Management Compensation and Development Committees. Rob's investment experience began in 1996, and he has been with T. Rowe Price since 1997, beginning as an analyst specializing in financial services stocks, including banks, asset managers, and securities brokers, in the U.S. Equity Division. He was the lead portfolio manager of the Institutional Large-Cap Growth Equity Strategy for 15 years until December 2016. In 2016, he stepped down from portfolio management to assume an investment leadership position as co-head of Global Equity, at which time he joined the Management Committee. In 2017, he was named head of Investments and group chief investment officer, which he held until 2021. In February 2021, he became president of Price Group. Prior to T. Rowe Price, he completed an internship as an equity research analyst at Wellington Management. Rob also was employed by KPMG Peat Marwick as a senior management consultant, where he focused on corporate transactions, before leaving to pursue his M.B.A. in 1995. Prior to joining Carlyle, he was a Senior Managing Director at Franklin Templeton where he was responsible for the global growth strategy and business development of their suite of alternatives offerings. Previously, Mr. Clifford held several senior leadership and business development positions at Legg Mason subsidiaries, including Global Head of Corporate Strategy at EnTrustPermal as well as Global Head of Business Development at Permal Group, where he built and managed the global business development team, including sales, investor relations, client service and marketing. He began his career at Merrill Lynch before working for BlackRock in the U.S., UK, Middle East and Latin America. Mr. Clifford is a graduate of the University of Limerick, Ireland, and holds an MBA from the Boston University Graduate School of Management.

Shannon Saccocia, CFA, is Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer - Wealth for Neuberger Berman. As a member of the firm’s global Asset Allocation Committee, Ms. Saccocia works closely with investment leadership across Neuberger Berman to establish market views, strategic and tactical asset allocation, and portfolio recommendations. She leverages her deep expertise and decades of experience working with individuals, families, and small institutions to deliver the firm's comprehensive investment capabilities to Wealth clients. Prior to joining Neuberger Berman in 2023, she was the Chief Investment Officer for five years for SVB Private and Boston Private Wealth, which SVB acquired in July 2021, overseeing portfolio construction, asset allocation, third-party manager selection, equity and fixed income portfolio management, performance and trading. Previously, she held senior roles at Banyan Partners and Silver Bridge Advisors focused on manager selection, asset allocation and portfolio construction.

Shannon received her BA in Economics and History from Brandeis University, and has been awarded both the Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Investment Management Analyst® designations. Ms. Saccocia is a longtime CNBC contributor and is regularly featured in the financial media. She resides in the Boston area with her husband and two children.

Joy's responsibilities include portfolio construction, strategic asset allocation, and asset-liability management. She also manages a derivative-based tactical overlay portfolio for the pension fund and oversees external managers specializing in multi-asset and credit mandates, spanning both liquid and illiquid investments. As a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee, Joy plays a key role in shaping the company’s investment strategy. Prior to her tenure at VIMCO, she served as a Risk Analyst at BlackRock.

Joy holds an MS in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, is a CFA charter holder, and a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts.
