KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Steven Meier, CFA, Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management, New York City Retirement Systems

As Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Comptroller for Asset Management, Steven Meier, oversees the five pension systems that compose the New York City retirement systems.

Mr. Meier brings over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, previously serving as Assistant Treasurer and Interim Chief Investment Officer for the Connecticut Office of the State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden, overseeing the investments of Connecticut’s $40 billion public pension system and its ESG initiatives. Before joining the Connecticut state treasurer’s office, Meier spent more than a decade at State Street Global Advisors, where he rose to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Global Fixed Income, Currency, and Cash Management, overseeing over $900 billion in assets.

Prior to his time at State Street, he worked at Credit Suisse as Director, Global Head of Fixed Income & Money Market Electronic Trading and Senior Trader in the Global Financing Group at Credit Suisse. His experience also includes roles at Oppenheimer Capital, Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, and Irving Trust Company.

Meier is a CFA Charter Holder and certified Financial Risk Manager. He holds an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business and a BBA from Hofstra University’s Zarb School of Business. 

Lynn Martin, 68th President, New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)

Lynn Martin is President of NYSE Group, which includes the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s largest stock market.

Martin is the 68th President of the New York Stock Exchange and the second woman to lead the exchange in more than 230-year history. The NYSE, the premier venue for capital raising, is the listing home to 2,400 of the world’s most influential and innovative companies.

In addition to the exchange, NYSE Group includes four fully electronic equity markets, including NYSE Arca, the industry leader in ETFs, and two options exchanges.

Martin is also Chair of Fixed Income & Data Services at Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), the parent of NYSE Group. Most recently, she was President of that business, responsible for ICE Bonds execution venues, securities pricing and analytics, reference data, indices, desktop solutions, consolidated feeds and connectivity services that cover all major asset classes.

She previously served as President of ICE Data Services, COO of ICE Clear U.S., and in a number of leadership roles including CEO of NYSE Liffe U.S. and CEO of New York Portfolio Clearing. Martin began her career at IBM in its Global Services organization.

Martin holds a BS in Computer Science from Manhattan College and an MA in Statistics from Columbia University. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Partnership for New York City and the Inner-City Scholarship Fund. Martin also serves on the Manhattan College Board of Trustees.

Michael Sonnenshein, Chief Executive Officer, Grayscale Investments

Michael Sonnenshein is CEO of Grayscale Investments, the world’s largest digital currency asset manager. Under his leadership, the firm has grown to be the definitive leader in crypto investing, offering a wide range of investments including single-asset and diversified products. Michael is regularly featured on CNBC and Bloomberg, and was honored in 2021 as one of 100 People Transforming Business by Business Insider and in 2018 as the publication’s Rising Stars of Wall Street. Michael serves as a member of the Grayscale Board of Directors. 

Prior to joining Grayscale, Michael was a financial advisor at JP Morgan Securities, covering HNW individuals and institutions, and an analyst at Barclays Wealth, providing coverage to middle‐market hedge funds and institutions. Michael earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and his Master of Business Administration from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. 

Lawrence Golub, Chief Executive Officer, Golub Capital

Lawrence Golub is the CEO of Golub Capital, a market-leading, award-winning direct lender and experienced credit asset manager. As of January 1, 2024, Golub Capital had over $65 billion of capital under management, a gross measure of invested capital including leverage. Golub Capital partners with institutional investors and family offices offering tailored solutions for investors’ credit asset strategies.

Mr. Golub is active in charitable and civic organizations. He is a member of the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows, a member of the Columbia Medical School Board of Advisors, President of the Harvard University JD-MBA Alumni Association, a member of the Advisory Council of Harvard Kennedy School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government and a trustee of the American Repertory Theater. Mr. Golub currently serves on the Stanford Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Council and the Advisory Board of Stanford Impact Labs. Previously, Mr. Golub was a Managing Director of Bankers Trust. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director of Wasserstein Perella. Mr. Golub started his career at Allen & Company Incorporated.

Mr. Golub earned his AB degree magna cum laude in economics from Harvard College. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was selected as a Baker Scholar, and a JD from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. 

Jennifer Prosek, Founder & Managing Partner, Prosek Partners

Jennifer Prosek is the Founder and Managing Partner of Prosek Partners, a leading integrated marketing and communications firm with offices in New York, London, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Palm Beach, Fairfield, Abu Dhabi and Cape Town. Prosek Partners was named Global Financial Agency of the Year by PRovoke Media in 2023. Jennifer has been listed personally among Insider’s list of top financial communicators in the United States, and on The Wall Street Journal’s “Most Influential Decision Makers” list. She is the co-president of the Columbia Business School Women’s Circle, on the board of directors of BritishAmerican Business, and sits on the advisory boards of Signal AI and iConnections.

Mehdi Mahmud, President and Chief Executive Officer, First Eagle Investments

Mehdi Mahmud is president and chief executive officer of First Eagle Investments. He also serves as the president of First Eagle Funds. Mehdi oversees all aspects of First Eagle’s business and works in close collaboration with the key portfolio managers. Mehdi came to First Eagle in March 2016 from Jennison Associates, where he was CEO and chairman of the board. Prior to his CEO role, he held several senior management positions at Jennison relating to product and business strategy, investment supervision of the firm’s value, small-cap, opportunistic and income-equity capabilities, and oversight of key support areas including institutional, retail and sub-advisory client activities. Previously, Mehdi served in a variety of investment and management roles at J.P. Morgan Investment Management and Credit Suisse Asset Management. Mehdi earned a BS in electrical engineering from Yale University.
