The 5th Annual Private Wealth California Forum is the region's leading conference for family offices, high net worth wealth managers and private banks from throughout the region and one of the flagship meetings of our global private wealth series. The Forum’s content was developed through hundreds of one-on-one meetings with the HNW family wealth management community and the program's speaker faculty is primarily comprised of leaders in the sector from across California.

Our agenda covers asset allocation and protection, equity markets, fixed income, alternative investments, as well as succession planning and an outlook of the financial markets and the global economy. This event is completely closed door and invitation only, and it has been designed to enable genuine peer-to-peer learning and networking for the regional private wealth community.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Shawne Merriman, Former NFL Linebacker, San Diego Chargers

Shawne Merriman has experienced, tackled and thrived against challenges throughout his life. From his childhood growing up in difficult and dangerous areas of Baltimore, Maryland, to his development has a football star at Frederick Douglass High School where he earned the nickname “Lights Out” for his ability to tackle opposing players with punishing force. His All-American career at the University of Maryland, and top 15 draft pick in the NFL, followed by 8 seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and the Buffalo Bills with 2X All-Pro and 3X Pro Bowl honors, Shawne embodies strength, focus and excellence. During his career and post retirement, Shawne remained active in athletics and media as a celebrity ambassador for Bellator MMA and a fixture on their widely popular SPIKE TV programming. Merriman made headlines and featured in publications including GQ, ESPN the Magazine, VIBE Magazine, as well as on the small screen including MTV, VH1, E!, FOX, The Biggest Loser, Cartoon Network, Funny or Die and more. Whether it is on the red carpet, in front of a camera or on the radio, Shawne has that “it” factor that attracts mainstream viewers, readers and listeners alike.


Thomas Q. Jones, Former Running Back, National Football League

Thomas Q. Jones is a captivating force on and off the field. While best known as an unstoppable all-time leading running back that played twelve seasons in the National Football League (NFL), Jones has turned his post-NFL focus to the world of acting in both film and television, and the world of technology as the Chief Executive Officer of the mobile application developer, Castar Applications, Inc. In film, Jones produced and stars in “A Violent Man” for Sony pictures. He headlined the independent film, "Runaway Island," alongside Lorraine Toussaint and Aisha Hinds. He filmed "Straight Outta Compton," the feature film based on the lives and careers of the hip-hop group, N.W.A. He shared a memorable scene with Paul Giamatti. Drafted 7th overall in the 2000 NFL draft by the Arizona Cardinals out of the University of Virginia, Jones went on to become one of the 25 all-time leading rushers in NFL history, with more than 10,000 rushing yards. In addition to the Arizona Cardinals, he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, Chicago Bears and the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming an AFC Rushing Leader, a 2006 NFC champion, 2007 Super Bowl XLI player, and 2009 Pro-Bowl selection within his career. In 2010, Jones was nominated for "The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year" award recognizing an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. In 2017, Jones will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.


Walter Thurmond , Former NFL Defensive– back, Seattle Seahawks

Walter Thurmond III is a former 6 year NFL Veteran Defensive-back and Super Bowl Champion of the Seattle Seahawks. It didn’t take long for Walter to indulge in his many other interests off the field. After having an injury laden career, Walter would pursue many of these interests including film, entertainment, technology and philanthropy. Throughout his playing career, Thurmond would go on to Executive Produce seven feature length films and documentaries, along with directing a pair. Having a keen understanding of the next big things in emerging technologies, Thurmond would go on to develop innovating IOT technologies and hold many software, hardware and design patents. Looking to create everlasting change, Walter created his families non profit, The Thurmond Foundation for Arts and Education, which assists in the fundraising efforts for various charitable organizations domestically and internationally. Additionally, Walter sits on the Board of Directors for the Light of Love Foundation UK, overseeing the development of the Marc Bolan School of Music and Film in Sierra Leone, a free art school for underprivileged youth in the country. The school was inspired and started by his grandmother, Grammy nominated MoTown songwriter and producer Gloria Jones.
