The Private Wealth Latin America and the Caribbean Forum in Miami is the leading meeting for family offices, wealth managers, RIAs, private banks and asset managers in the region and one of the flagship meetings of our private wealth series. In our 7th year, we will look to take conversations deeper and raise the level on our previous forum’s discussions.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Francis X. Suarez, Mayor to the City of Miami

Francis X. Suarez serves the City of Miami as Mayor, working diligently to raise the standards of the community where he was born and raised. He currently also serves as Vice-Chair of the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization, tasked with approving federally required plans and transportation policies, and as President of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities. Com-missioner Suarez graduated from Florida International University. He went on to law school at the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law, graduating cum laude. Prior to running for public office, Commissioner Suarez founded a successful real estate firm. He is also a practicing attorney with the law firm of Carlton Fields specializing in real-estate and corporate transactions.


Luis G. Fortuño, 10th Governor, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (2009-2013)

Luis Guillermo Fortuño Burset is a Puerto Rican politician who served as the tenth Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Under Mr. Fortuño’s leadership as governor, Puerto Rico implemented the largest tax cut in the territory’s history, right-sized its government, reined in deficit spending, and developed new sources of government revenue. This resulted in a year and a half long period of economic growth, the only period of economic growth the island has experienced in the last decade. Additionally, Mr. Fortuño’s signature public-private partnerships law paved the way for two of the largest recent infrastructure investments in the US, one in Puerto Rico’s highway system and the island’s main inter-national airport. Other P3 transactions during his tenure included schools, energy projects and ferry services.

Currently. Mr. Fortuño is a partner in Steptoe's Washington office, where he is a member of the Corporate, Securities & Finance Group and the Government Affairs and Public Policy Group. He is also involved in Steptoe’s Latin American practice. In private practice, Mr. Fortuño has represented Fortune 500 companies in regulatory, financial, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate matters throughout Latin America.


Anthony Scaramucci, Founder, Co-Managing Partner, SkyBridge Capital

Anthony Scaramucci is the Founder and Co-Managing Partner of SkyBridge Capital. He is the author of four books: The Little Book of Hedge Funds, Goodbye Gordon Gekko, Hop-ping Over the Rabbit Hole (a 2016 Wall Street Journal best seller), and Trump: The Blue-Collar President. Prior to founding SkyBridge in 2005, Scaramucci co-founded investment partnership Oscar Capital Management, which was sold to Neuberger Berman, LLC in 2001. Earlier, he was a vice president in Private Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs & Co. In 2016, Scaramucci was ranked #85 in Worth Magazine’s Power 100: The 100 Most Powerful People in Global Finance. In 2011, he received Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year – New York” Award in the Financial Services category.

Anthony is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), vice chair of the Kennedy Center Corporate Fund Board, a board member of both The Brain Tumor Foundation and Business Executives for National Security (BENS), and a Trustee of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Foundation. He was a member of the New York City Financial Services Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2012.


Sandro Salsano, President and Chairman, Salsano Group

Sandro Salsano is a self made Italian born billionaire businessman and philanthropist. He was dubbed by Forbes the Warren Buffett of Central America on its cover in march 2019. He is President of Salsano Group, a private conglomerate investing in real estate, global private equity and technology. He is Chairman of Salsano Family Office and Trustee of Salsano Shahani Foundation. He is a graduate of Bocconi University and also studied at Oxford, Harvard and Princeton University. He was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. The same award was bestowed upon other successful and world renowned personalities including Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Marissa Mayer, and Elon Musk, among others.


Moishe Mana, Founder and Chairman, Mana Group

Moishe Mana, an Israeli-born self-made billionaire, has been a driving force behind some of the highest profile neighborhood reinventions of the past couple of decades. Beginning his career in New York City in the 1980s, Moishe co-founded Milk studios in Chelsea and helped transform NYC’s Meat Packing District from a downtrodden neighborhood to an internationally recognized mecca for art, fashion and photography. A tireless entrepreneur and neighborhood visionary, Moishe then set his sights on New Jersey’s Jersey City, where he established the world’s largest contemporary art institute, Mana Contemporary, and kick-started a development and cultural boom. Moishe has recently shifted his focus to South Florida and quickly become one of the region’s most prominent land owners, with significant holdings across booming districts, including the bohemian Wynwood neighborhood and Downtown Miami’s historic Flagler street. Armed with this robust real estate portfolio and a team of experts, Moishe is now working to transform both areas into thriving hubs of art, culture, technology and international business. His passion for reinvigorating creative communities and supporting local artists has elevated him beyond a real estate developer and established him as a cultural tastemaker and patron of the arts.


Gary R. Petersen, Managing Partner, Co-founder, EnCap Investments L.P.

Managing Partner and co-founder of EnCap Investments L.P., an investment manager and leading provider of private equity capital to the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. Prior to the formation of EnCap in 1988, Petersen was a Senior Vice President and Manager of the Corporate Finance Division of the Energy Banking group for Republic Bank Corporation from 1985 to 1988. His duties and responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions, financial advisory services, and institutional fundraising activities for the energy industry. Prior to his position at Republic Bank, Petersen was an executive vice president and a member of the board of directors of Nicklos Oil & Gas Company in Houston from 1979 to 1984. Previously, Petersen was a Group Vice President in the Petroleum and Minerals Division of Republic Bank Dallas, where he began his business career in 1972. He served from 1970 to 1971 in the U.S. Army in Washington D.C. as a First Lieutenant in the Finance Corps and as an Army officer in the Army Security Agency.

Petersen obtained his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in finance from Texas Tech University and has done postgraduate work at American University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Mr. Petersen serves on the board of multiple EnCap portfolio companies and is a member of the board of Plains All American, Inc. (NYSE: PAA). He is a member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the Houston Producers’ Forum and the Petroleum Club of Houston. He is also a member and past Chairman of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, past Chairman of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Foundation Board and past Chairman of the Council on Alcohol & Drugs in Houston. Petersen is also a minority owner and limited partner of both the NFL team, Houston Texans, and the MLB team, Houston Astros. He resides in Houston, Texas and has four children.
