The 3rd Annual Private Equity US Fall Forum is the leading investor-centric meeting for LPs investing in private markets.

Tony James, Executive Vice Chairman, Blackstone

Mr. James is Executive Vice Chairman of Blackstone (effective March 1, 2018), and a member of the board of directors of its general partner, Blackstone Group Management L.L.C. He is also a member of Blackstone’s Management Committee and sits on each of the firm’s investment committees. Mr. James previously served as the firm’s President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Blackstone in 2002, Mr. James was Chairman of Global Investment Banking and Private Equity at Credit Suisse First Boston and a member of the Executive Board. Mr. James is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Costco Wholesale Corporation and has served on a number of other corporate Boards. Mr. James is a Trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, member of The Boards of Trustees of the Mount Sinai Health System, member of the Center for American Progress Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman of Trout Unlimited’s Coldwater Conservation Fund, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Wildlife Conservation Society, Advisory Board member of The Montana Land Reliance, and Chair-man Emeritus of the Board of Trustees of American Ballet Theatre.


Ron Bloom, Managing Partner, Vice Chairman—Private Equity, Brookfield Asset Management

Mr. Bloom is a Managing Partner and Vice Chairman in Brookfield’s Private Equity Group, responsible for in-vestment origination, analysis and execution across North America. Prior to joining Brookfield, Mr. Bloom was Vice Chairman, U.S. Investment Banking, at Lazard, focused on restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Lazard, Mr. Bloom served as Assistant to the President for Manufacturing Policy where he pro-vided leadership on policy development and strategic planning for the Administration’s agenda to revitalize the manufacturing sector. He led the discussions with the auto industry which resulted in the industry’s support for new fuel economy standards. Prior to joining the White House, Mr. Bloom served as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury where he helped lead the restructuring of General Motors and Chrysler LLC, and then led the Treasury’s oversight of the companies thereafter, including GM’s Initial Public Offering, the largest IPO in US history. Mr. Bloom received his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he graduated with distinction.


Greg Brenneman, Chairman, CCMP Capital

Mr. Brenneman is the full time Executive Chairman of CCMP Capital. He plays an active leadership role in executing the Firm’s overall strategy while remaining actively engaged in completing transactions, developing strategies and coaching the senior management of CCMP’s portfolio companies. Prior to joining CCMP in O-tober 2008, he served as Chairman, CEO and/or President of Continental Airlines, Burger King and PWC Consulting. He led a turnaround of each company by dramatically improved customer service, employee satisfation, profitability and financial returns of up to 15x. In 1994, Mr. Brenneman founded Turnworks, Inc., his personal investment company. Mr. Brenneman is an Emmy Award winner and the Author of Right Away & All At Once, Five Steps to Transform your Business and Enrich Your Life. He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree with distinction from Harvard Business School, Bachelors Administration of Business in Ac-counting/Finance, summa cum laude from Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas, inducted into the Kansas Business Hall of Fame and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Commerce degree from Washburn University.


David Layton, Partner, Head of Private Equity, Partners Group

Mr. Layton is Head of the Private Equity business department and Head of the European Private Equity business unit, based in Denver. He is a member of the Executive Committee and the Global Executive Board. He is furthermore a member of the Global Investment Committee and the Private Equity Directs Investment Committee. Previously, he was the Head of Private Equity in the Americas. He has been with Partners Group since 2005 and has 15 years of industry experience. He has represented Partners Group on the Board of Directors of several portfolio companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management, USA.


Leonard Harlan, Non-Executive Chairman of the Executive Committee, Castle Harlan

Mr. Harlan is non-executive chairman of the Executive Committee of Castle Harlan, Inc., a New York based private equity firm focused on buyouts and growth capital investments in middle-market companies across various industries.  He is co-founder of CHAMP, the former Australian affiliate of Castle Harlan and a member of the Investment Committee of CHAMP III Management Pty.  He is a general partner of Harlan Capital Partners LLC, founded by his son Josh in 2011 that focuses on uncorrelated private investments. Mr. Harlan is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Weill Cornell Medical College and serves on numerous leadership roles. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Innovative Institute and a director of the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York. A graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mr. Harlan has a Masters with Distinction and Doctorate from the Harvard Business School.
