Key Discussion Topics

Investing in Today’s Global Equity Market
The world's equity markets have moved significantly higher since the financial crisis of 2008. While performance has recently diverged among global equity markets amid a variety of macroeconomic and geopolitical factors, U.S. equities have remained buoyant yet volatile. Amid constantly evolving markets and myriad investment products available today, how should plans adjust, if at all?

Passive vs. Active Management Opportunities
With the quality being a key component of a successful operation, panelists will discuss the areas of opportunity as it relates to passive management vs. active management.

Fixed Income: Realistic Expectations and Ways to Enhance
Despite encouraging domestic data, some say that further rate hikes are still very difficult moves for the Fed, given factors such as the value of USD, a near-zero neutral rate U.S. economy, and troubles overseas at foreign central banks. At the same time, there is now between $10-11 trillion government debt around the world with negative yields, which makes U.S. Treasuries still relatively attractive. What is a reasonable yield range to expect out of a balanced fixed income portfolio in the near to mid-term? Are there any ways to improve on that? What are the risks?

Practical Steps towards ESG Integration
Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is slowly becoming main stream in the institutional asset management industry. For early adopters, it is no longer a question of whether or not, but how to do it better, for example improvements on factor identification and definition, weighting systems, and generally accepted agreements or standards, etc. But for those who are still looking to get involved, where should they start?
