Jeffrey A. Barclay, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs Mr. Barclays is head of the Real Estate Investment Group (REIG), which is a part of the Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group within the Investment Management Division. REIG invests both in direct commercial real estate and in fund managers on behalf of Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Private Wealth Management clients. He has more than 30 years of real estate investing experience. Jeffrey joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Jeffrey was responsible for leading real estate investment activity for Clarion Partners, one of the largest US real estate investment management firms and, from 1998 through 2010, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ING Group. He served on the firm’s Executive Board, Operating Committee and led its Investment Committee. Jeffrey has served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers (NAREIM) and chairman of the IOPC Gold Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He is a member of the board of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and a founding member of the Defined Contribution Real Estate Council. David Sherman, Co-Founder, President & Co-Chief Investment Officer , Metropolitan Real Estate (U.S.) David M. Sherman is a co-founder, CEO of Carlyle Real Estate Solutions, and the Co-Chief Investment Officer of Metropolitan Real Estate. Margaret Gipe McKnight and Mr. Sherman direct the investment policy and program across all Metropolitan Partnerships. Mr. Sherman has more than 25 years of real estate finance and analytical experience. In 2000, prior to co-founding Metropolitan, Mr. Sherman founded D. Sherman & Company, Inc., an advisory firm focused on strategic issues and transactions in the real estate securities industry. Previously, Mr. Sherman was the Managing Director of Salomon Smith Barney’s REIT research team, which covered more than 60 stocks and supported the firm’s $15 billion of REIT offering activity. The team received recognition from Institutional Investor Magazine in 1998 and 1999. Mr. Sherman also held other positions in real estate finance, investment banking, and strategic planning at Smith Barney, The Harlan Company, First Boston, and Paine Webber, including acting as the Chief Financial Officer of Paine Webber Properties, a family of real estate funds with more than $500 million in property investments. In addition, Mr. Sherman is the current Chairman of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Institute Committee. Previously, Mr. Sherman was an Adjunct Professor of Real Estate Finance at Columbia Business School. Over the years, Mr. Sherman has published numerous articles in periodicals including American Banker, PREA Quarterly, Shopping Center Business, and National Real Estate Investor. Mr. Sherman was also a panelist for Institutional Limited Partners Association for its first member educational webcast on private equity real estate. Mr. Sherman currently serves as an independent director on the board of Brookfield Homes Corporation. (NYSE:ELS), the leading owner/operator of high-quality manufactured housing resort communities in the United States and British Columbia. Mr. Heneghan was previously chief financial officer at ELS.From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Heneghan was with Equity Group Investments (EGI), the privately held investment company founded and led by Sam Zell. At EGI, he held multiple executive-level positions at Zell-related companies including Great American Management and Investments, Inc., a publicly traded holding company with subsidiaries in agricultural chemicals and fertilizers, building products and other manufacturing; Capsure Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded insurance company; and Greenberg & Pociask, LLC, the in-house financial services provider to Zell-affiliated companies.Previously, Mr. Heneghan was a financial analyst with Nicor Gas, and he began his career as a staff accountant at Peat Marwick, now part of KPMG.
